Latest version of player. About a year ago plex stopped working on my Samsung tv. I thought it was Samsung but I just turned off my firewall to try and get it working one last time. It worked. I have everying listed as plex allowed to pass my firewall but it is still blocking it. Any suggestions on how to keep the firewall running but still allow plex to pass to my tv?
Did you ever find a fix for this? I’m having the exact same issue.
have you considered opening the specific ports required to be open on the machine running the Plex Media Server?

Hi tom80H. Thank you for the reply, but I have now fixed it, luckily I had some knowledge from other apps doing the same thing.
The fix (currently working): Although Windows 10 says you have allowed the program through, it’s actually pointing to an old version of the PMS. What you need to do is Manually add a new program through the firewall. It will appear as an identical “Plex Media Server” in the list, but will now work.
Longer how to:

In your control panel go to: Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Defender Firewall\Allowed applications

Click on “Allow another app…”

Click on “Browse…”

Go to the directory where your Plex Media Server installed e.g. “C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server”

Select “Plex Media Server.exe” and press “Open”

Press “Add”
This should now add it to your list of rules and check “Private” as allowed, but it will leave public as unchecked - change as necessary.
