Plex Media Server Playback Error

Server Version#: 1.15.3.858
Player Version#: All players

I recently had a power outage and was unable to shut down my Mac Mini running my Plex Media Server. From this time, I am unable to play any media.
I continually get the following error message after the load screen flashes at 13%…

Playback Error

watch?v=-tZADKJFCAU

Playback has stopped due to multiple playback errors. Please check your connection and try again.
Error code: s1001 (Network)

I can play through the server player itself after I hit the Skip button showing the error, however this is not an option when trying to play through my Roku Premier +, Roku Stick or any of my iOS devices.

I deleted all the database information and reloaded the server, nothing.
I just reset all my media folders, wiped my whole server and re-added the media, nothing.

Right now, my Plex is useless.

Please help.

Yup. Been plaguing me all week. Posted in several places. No answers as of yet. I suspect last update broke something.

I hope not. I have been holding off updating my OS to Mojave as I read their were issues, now this is happening. Very annoying.
Here’s hoping someone has a fix!

I have tried optimizing, cleaning, removing content and re-adding to no avail. It’s definitely the last PMS update as I have 3 servers and updated them one at a time troubleshooting the issue and it buggered all 3 up with same error code s1001 (Network) code and no playback. The only client that will kind of work is a web player where you can hit skip when it fails to play and it will eventually play movie. Android, Apple TV and MAC app are screwed trying to play content from the 3 servers. Tried completely deleting movies folder and re-add to no avail as well.

I am being plagued by calls from clients with this issue!! PLEASE FIX THIS!!!

Posting PMS logs would be really helpful…

Hi darcilicious,

How do I post the logs?

https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/

So I think I fixed the issue.
Check out the last post on here S1001 (Network)
Then go to the Plex Reddit page here https://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/comments/b6eqia/an_error_occurred_trying_to_play/

Seems if you delete the pre-roll video it will work.
Simple things…
Crisis averted.

There are plenty of examples of other people posting with the same issue who posted their PMS logs already. Mine look the same bud. Experimenting last night I rolled back 2 servers to 793, cleared PMS files out of ~/Library, re-added my folders and re-scanned and I seem to be back up and running. I suspect the problem is related to the last update corrupting the cache folders. I will experiment with dropping the deleted cache folder back in to see if it buggers it up again. This solution sucks though because you lose watch/progress status on all your content. My 3rd server (Asustor NAS) is still buggered on the latest PMS build, I am going to experiment with that one tonight and will report back.

This method seems to work, I have tried it with my NAS server and movie playback seems ok now
