Plex Media Server Remote Access

Hello All,

I’m in need of some help, I’ve been using my Plex server at home over the local network for some time, however decided to enable remote access.

It essentially pops up as connected, then a few seconds later has the following error:

Not available outside your network
Your server is signed in to Plex, but is not reachable from outside your network.

ive been through all the information on the website regarding setting it up, ive:

  • Made my host PC have a static local IP
  • Ensured router has UPnP enabled (toggled on and off)
  • Manually specify public port - both 32400 and 50000 external to 32400 internal
  • Opened up the port in my router and forwarded external port to internal port, with the internal IP of the host machine running Plex
  • Added a incoming rule in my workstation firewall - disabling firewall also does not work

I have tried to connect to the list of IPs Being Blocked, however these site can not be reached, so I’m assuming something is still blocking my remote access from working

If anyone has any other options to try to get this thing working it would be appreciated.

Thanks
Shaun

Server Version 1.23.4.4805:

unfortunately this is happening to quite alot of people, and Plex hasn’t said ■■■■ about it other then they are trying to collect information from people.

Who is your ISP?

Contact them and ask if they are using CG-NAT.

If so, ask if they can provide a public IP address that supports port forwarding. It does not have to be a static IP address, just one that supports port forwarding.

Many carriers are deploying CG-NAT, which in the default configuration, creates a dual-NAT situation and blocks port forwarding.

Plex Relay works with CG-NAT, but is limited to 2 Mbps (1 Mbps w/o a Plex Pass).
