I’ve spent the last 2 days trying to troubleshoot this error I get when trying to open Plex Media Server. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version along with the past two versions with no luck along with multiple reboots in between each reinstall. I’ve run the dependency walker and debugger from Visual Studio with no additional hints to what could be the problem. I noticed the uninstalls were not removing the appdata folder so I manually deleted it on a couple install attempts. I can not find any logs or events in the Windows Event Viewer to help either. Any other troubleshooting steps would be appreciated.
The only changes I’ve done to my system lately is to install some software for a new LSI RAId card. No other changes have been made that I’m aware of. I’m running Windows 10 Pro. I wanted to reach out to the forums before taking the next step of reinstalling my OS.
This hasn’t worked for me, I, unfortunately, deleted my old Win 10 files due to creator telling me I was short on space on my C: then I found this issue so copying my old mffplat.dll file isn’t possible. I have downloaded from a site but n change. I have also updated the game dll drivers for both Syste32 and wow32 again no change. Update direct x and net framework still not working. having to put stuff on a USB drive now and using my receiver as a player, not happy.
I just had and fixed the same error by re-installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 x86 redistributable.
You might be able to just run appwiz.cpl, and hit the repair button on that item. If that doesn’t work, uninstall it and either re-install Plex to get it back or just download the component direct from Microsoft.

Boot fails with error 0xc000007b after Windows Update. I have a dual-boot system with Ubuntu 14.04.3 & Windows 10. reboot it just went into a loop of booting, telling me there had been this obscure error, rebooting to diagnose/fix it and then failing to fix it.
After you upgrade Windows, go into C:\Windows.old\WINDOWS\SysWOW64 and copy the mfplat.dll into the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 directory. For some reason this file doesn’t copy over during Windows major release updates and is a dependency for Plex.
