nVidia Shield Pro - don’t remember the model year, but it’s the one with the 500GB hard drive. I bought it in late 2018.
The server portion of the Plex app suddenly stopped working yesterday afternoon. It was still recording yesterday morning.
What I have done so far:
Cleared data & cache
Uninstall all updates using the menu as the app cannot be uninstalled
Deleted the “Plex Media Server” folder (moved the logs elsewhere)
Deleted the “PlexTV” folder as this is the folder that stores recorded TV
Deleted the com.plexapp.mediaserver.smb folder in internal/Android/data
Updated the app again using Google Play store app on the Shield
Linked the app with my Plex account
I have done the above about three times now, but the Plex Server still says it’s unreachable. It’s as if it can see the network connection. There is obviously network connectivity for the Shield as I can use YouTube and access the Play Store, as well as seeing the other Plex Server running on my Windows PC. I really don’t want to factory reset the Shield unless there is no other solution. Thanks.
I’m having a similar issue with the same model Shield TV Pro. I ejected the hard drive so I can add a movie to my movies folder. After reconnecting the drive to the Shield, the server will NOT start and I can’t access my movies.
I made sure that in the Shield settings, the drive wasn’t being scanned. I tried rebooting the cache, force stop, rebooting the Shield. Nothing helped. Only once did I even see the Plex sertings option to stop/start the server. Now it only shows “Plex Media Server”, but no buttons/icons to stop/start the server.
I no longer know what to try. PMS has, more often than not, stopped for no reason. It’ll restart when it feels like it. That could be days later. Right now, it has been down for almost 24 hours.
Same here, Plex Media Server on Shield is gone, under Settings there is nothing under the Plex Media Server entry, you can’t even select anything. It worked fine a day ago.
My media is on an external USB SSD, and I can see all the data on it from a PC on same network.
the shield updates that have been rolling out since late last year have borked a lot of stuff up for plex on the shield when using the shield as a PMS. Especially if you have store your media content on external usb drives or even if you just have external usb drive storage plugged in. I still haven’t updated to version 9 on my shield because there are still too many issues. Their latest release borked CEC controls up as well.
