Plex Media Server Unavailable when iMac goes to Sleep

Hi all, I have always had this issue that when the iMac goes to sleep the server is unavailable, only the screen is set to sleep not the hard disk and wake on network is on. Since i upgraded to a full Plex pass, i figured I’d better get this sorted  The video files are on an external hard drive, could that be the issue? I have to wake the mac up, and reload plex and access is fine on all devices then

Alternatively, if there is no workaround for this, would an old Mac Mini be ok to use, or would i still have the same issues?

Thanks for any help

I am very new to Plex, but I had this issue with other programs. I think the problem is with the external HDD doing its own sleep.
Currently my PlexServer on Mac is doing sonic analysis and I use Amphetamine to keep Mac awake and screen off. This little program has helped me a lot, maybe you can find a use for it, too.

Thank you so much, I’ll try Amphetamine and see if that helps! Can i ask what “sonic analysis” is? is that a function on Plex?

In Amphetamine, you can state various options, like “do not let Mac sleep IF PlexServer is running BUT let the display sleep” etc. This enables you to keep regular power saving options on Mac if you don’t run your server 24/7.
Sonic analysis is a Plex function, enabled when you have PlexPass and it is for music files. Please see Sonic Analysis for Music | Plex Support for information first hand.
