I am running Plex Server on a headless Mac Mini using MacOS High Sierra ver 10.13.6. It runs really well for two or three days and then the server goes to sleep. No access, can’t log on from any device, including the host machine itself. The host is still running fine, but the only solution I have found is to power cycle and reboot. Does anyone have a similar issue, and has anyone got a solution please?
Have you checked the Energy settings to try and insure that they are not set in some way to let it go to sleep? This maybe obvious, but maybe something changed on you somehow? perhaps you need to reset the pram, if this is an older Intel Mini, perhaps that will help…
Having the exact same issue. Reboot is the only thing that solves it. I’m at a loss. Has been happening for months.
Not your exact problem, but same hardware/software setup with sleep problems. In my case the machine is always ignoring its sleep settings, and goes to sleep automatically about 15 seconds after it wakes up, unless there is continuous network activity (Screen share or video streaming). And for some reason my machine is network hammered, which causes Plex Server to crash, so I have to start the Plex Server again every day.
its in your Mac sleep/hybernate settings. Unforuantley for whatever reason these settings have to be seen/changed via terminal. Im not sure why they dont make it available over the gui anymore
‘pmset -g’ will show your current settings (no quotes)
Here’s an article that explains in more detail and commands to change your settings
This has been a “Plex” exclusive issue on my M1 based Macs for short of .5-1 year now. No issues with literally ANY other piece of software that runs on my Mac in the background (it’s insanely frustrating).
