I’ve been using plex for quite some time now. I frequently access it through the app.plex.tv. Today, it’s telling me my server is unavailable.
so, I pop on the server (debian), confirm it’s running. There’s a minor update for plex, so I download and apply it.
I then logged into a PC at home and confirmed that Plex Media Center works, as well as Plex web from inside my network.
So, I check the remote access settings, and everything is green, “Fully accessible outside your network”.
From my remote network I can go directly to domain.stuff.com:32400/web and I get a login dialog box (that I can’t seem to log into, but don’t care).
So, it appears that it’s fully functional, but not through app.plex.tv. Logs indicate no problems.
Thoughts?
Your log files please? (settings - server - help - download logs)
It sounds like the last attempt to download your encryption / security cert didn’t go right. The failsafe for that is to shut down outside access rather than leave you wide open.
I had debug logging on. Here’s a clean file, without debug.
Actually, I need the debugging. I just don’t need (or want) Verbose, per the blue sticky over here ---------->
Without Debug, I get 1.7 KB of log which , unfortunately, tells me nothing useful.
Your database is fragmented. When it gets too slow, all of PMS’s support components (agents, client player interfaces, etc) can’t communicate in time and everything starts to ‘time out’. It’s all still there but can’t talk to itself.
Hover over the Libraries section, expose the ellipsis, click it, see the dropdown to Optimize Database
. When complete, restart PMS.

I followed your steps, and when I tested it remotely today it seems to be working. Hopefully, this was it. Thanks!
Go to “Settings - Server - Scheduled Tasks”. Make certain you have checked the box to Optimize the database.
This will prevent this from happening again unless you add or move a large amount of data at once. If you do, you only need Optimize it again
