<server> is currently unavailable Verify you have a network connection etc

Server Version#: latest stable
Player Version#: latest stable

At the outset, I am here as a last resort after a week of wading through everything I can find on the topic on the internet. Nothing has helped: Apologies in advance if I sound like I’ve lost the plot.

YourServer is currently unavailable
Verify you have a network connection and that the server is online, or see our troubleshooting tips for further assistance.

PMS had been working reasonably reliably for some months. A week ago this nonsense started. PMS content is only available on localhost. Client access from other IP addresses on the LAN fails.

I emphasise nothing I am aware of has changed locally. The LAN seems to be well behaved, the internet connection connection is fine, I have disabled the VPN, I have logged in, logged out, logged in, purged, reinstalled etc etc. No joy.

I have been through the “troubleshooting” guide. Although things check out OK the issue remains.

PMS is scanning media files on the LAN (NAS) no problem.

Today I did a clean install of linux and PMS, but the problem remains: " is currently unavailable Verify you have a network connection and that the server is online, or see our troubleshooting tips for further assistance."

Time to move on?

This is happening to me as well when I try to connect to a friend’s plex server and they can’t access anyone else’s as well.

May I please see the server’s DEBUG logs?

PS: I apologize for not seeing this sooner. I was not notified by the forum. :frowning:

My debug or my friend’s sever debug? The op is having issues with their server, it is happening to me when I try to connect to my friends. If you need him, I can ask him for them.

@samoan_gmail_com

I need the server debug logs from the server which isn’t working correctly.

The best logs to get me are:

  1. Confirm the server is set for DEBUG logging ON, VERBOSE logging OFF.
  2. Restart PMS
  3. Let it sit idle for 3 minutes
  4. Now attempt to access it a few times (that’s what you do)
  5. Have your friend download the server logs ZIP file from PMS
  6. Attach it here.

In regard to my issue, I arrived at the clutching at straws stage.

In the end the following worked:

  1. I logged in to my account at https://plex.tv
  2. Account Settings
  3. Authorized Devices

I deleted ALL the listed devices (clutching at straws, right?)
Rebooted my PMS

Now it worked. Mind you, my valid devices had to be re-linked.

Credit to Reddit for the suggestion, however inelegant it seems.

I will ask him for the logs, also I noticed when looking at a movie in the library or playlist or adding it to watch, it will reload to the top of the list instead of going back to the movie I was on, I posted a forum post about it. Could his logs help with that or is that more on my end?

As a process of elimination I’d try the method of removing your device from the authorised device list (see my post above).

Then try to re-establish the connection. You’d probably want to to do this in consultation with the PMS owner. If it works, good. If it doesn’t, suspect a network or permission issue.

Mind you, I have never been able to get remote access to work anyway. I tried getting help here once but only managed to get flamed for being too stupid to use plex.

All the best…

I hate this, it’s too complicated! Going to get Swinsian and a music app for my iPhone

We tired moving the authorized and re-authoring the device, but no go. Still randomly stops showing images, then says no content and then unavailable, my friend when he tries to access his own server remotely also gives him that error. He said he would get logs and send them to me and I will upload them here.

Here is the logs

Plex Media Server Logs_2024-11-11_16-49-50.zip (241.3 KB)

@ChuckPa I have uploaded my friend’s logs. Let me know if you need anything else.

@ChuckPa did the logs reveal anything? My buddy is having the same error, that the connection is not secure, or it is unable to verify when he tries via the web browser at his house.

There is nothing in your logs which indicates a problem.

The server is connecting to Plex.tv and Remote Access is confirmed.

I did find you have another Active, although not seen in over a year, server with the same name.

I wonder if this is causing confusion. I removed the older server.

To check further , force-reload the Plex/web browser app so the old (now deleted) server drops off.

I will let my buddy know, Thank you, hope it works as it is getting worse.

Greg

@ChuckPa Still not working but now the ! doesn’t show on my Nvidia App, but does on the web app, it also says no content available for this library.

@samoan_gmail_com

In your account, I see:

  1. Your server: “Cthulju***” which is an Nvidia Shield server
  2. I see one server, “Zocalo” shared with you.

Is this correct?

If so, I’ve sometimes seen the Shield PLAYER app get confused. I fix that by reinstalling and "link"ing it again to my account.

The only caution here is to avoid uninstalling the SERVER module.

Yes, that is correct. They are both Shield servers, but Cthulhu is mine and Zocalo is my buddies. He is also going to check some settings, I will uninstall and reinstall the player on my end.

Greg

@ChuckPa The same thing is happening when we try to view his server via the web applications as well.

@samoan_gmail_com

I looked at Plex.tv and copied the published IP address and port.

I then attempted to open that IP:port in my browser.

There was no reply from your server.

Is your remote access (WAN port) forwarded correctly ?

I don’t know if that is setup to be forwarded or not correctly, This was working fine for years and suddenly just started having problems in the last month. What do I need to check? Cthulhu server works fine, it is the Zocalo one we are having trouble accessing. What should my friend check don’t he WAN settings? @ChuckPa
