Plex Media Server update

Hi, I’ve been trying to sort this issue out for months now. Would be great for peace of mind to finally resolve it. I have a QNAP NAS TS453A and have over 1000 films on it. When I launch Plex Media Server on my PC it tells me that "A Plex Media Server update is available for the server NAS MEDIA! 1.15.0.659 Download now or “Skip this version” Now does this mean that I have to update the plex app on the NAS? When i Launch Qfinder Pro I then double click on the NAS so that I can log into the NAS, i then select APP center and i can then see the PLEX app. When i mouse over the app it shopws “Plex Media Server” 1.13.5.291. How do I update this? If I click on the PLEX app on my PC where it says “Download NOW” it downloads a file but then thats it. The file it downloads is the following:

PlexMediaServer-1.15.0.659-9311f93fd-x86_64 its says its a QPKG file ? which doesn’t do anything.

PLEASE HELP! SOMEBODY

Hey, you can’t update plex through the plex app on the Qnap, you have to manually do it through the app center. Here’s a link to the guide I used when I first found this out. This works for any QPKG files, including PLEX updates, not just for installing apps themselves.

@Cheekychico There are 2 different ways to update Plex.

QNAP hosts a “Qnap Certified” version of Plex in the QNAP App Center. That is the version you can update via the App Center “update” button.

This version of Plex is generally somewhat out of date as it takes QNAP a while to go through their certification processes on a release. They also will not certify any Plex Pass “beta” releases.

If you are running a newer version of Plex downloaded from Plex.tv, you click the link to download the file (in this case the one you listed). Then you have to manually install it via QNAP App Center over the top of the other one. See the link provided in the post above.

Hopefully that helps clear things up a little about the differences the 2 “versions”.

many thanks for your help, both of you. How do I know which version is the latest on the QNAP APP center?

I contacted the qnap support who answered they can’t do nothing. New releases should be pushed by plex teams (this sounds a bit strange to me).
Receiving the updates officially and automatically would be a great solution (not all of them of course but the available version in the app center was released 8 months ago by plex teams, it’s a bit old).
do you know a way to contact plex teams, I would like to discuss with them regarding the answer from qnap support ?
