Plex Media Server will not link to Plex

Hi All

I’ve got a Synology DS220j which I use as my server for holding content which I have linked to my Plex account. However recently I have had a few issues (I think related to changing internet provider), but my Plex account is no longer linked to my Synology NAS. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Plex Media Survey on the Synology Package Center but when I click “Open” I get an error saying that it cannot open the page because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. I think it must be a relatively simple fix but I am struggling, so any help appreciated. TIA

  • Verify the default gateway and DNS server settings are correct in the NAS network settings.
  • In Control Panel → Regional Options, make sure the NAS can successfully synchronize with a NTP server.
  • Do not use the Open button in Package Center.
  • Connect direct to the IP address of the NAS. For example, if the IP address is 10.1.2.3, use http://10.1.2.3:32400/web.

If you still cannot login to Plex Media Server:

  1. Stop Plex via Package Center
  2. Using File Station, navigate to the Plex Data Folder
  3. Right click on Logs and compress to Logs.zip
  4. Upload the zip file to the thread (drag file into message window).

Thanks @FordGuy61

I’ve uploaded the zip file as it is still not connecting after trying your suggestions.

Logs.zip (2.2 MB)

@ChuckPa Any ideas?

Thanks for the log files.

It looks like your router or ISP has DNS rebinding protection enabled, as PMS cannot resolve plex.direct addresses.

Configure the DS220j to use a public DNS provider such as 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare), 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 (Google), or 9.9.9.9 (Quad9).

Also, if you are running a piHole, pfSense, or similar firewall, whitelist the plex.direct domain.

Thanks @FordGuy61

I’ll look at how to disable any DNS rebinding protection on my new router. If I have any issues following this I will post back on here.

Thanks
