Plex Media Server will not start on Shield after update to 1.30.1.6562

Server Version#: 1.30.1.6562
Nvidia Shield TV Pro

I updated to the latest PMS today and now the server does not start.

I notice that there is an updated beta version, does this fix the problem?

If so, how can I switch to the beta channel if I am unable to connect to the server?

Sideload?

Same issue here, PMS does not start, server settings missing in client. Updated PMS today 1/21/23. Checked permissions, file access set properly.
Here we go again, this is getting old.

@anon18523487 any ideas??

Nope, you are the first person to respond. I cannot believe we are the only two experiencing this.

I can’t believe that this has happened again. I will not be happy if I have to re-install AGAIN !!!

Did you check the permissions for the PMS server and client?

I saw a beta version of PMS for Linux but didn’t see one for the Shield.

Located the beta for 1.30.1.6563. Didn’t help in my case.
My media is stored on a removable usb drive. I’m fairly certain the problem is related to a permissions issue.

Here’s how to get the beta.

Plex Media Server on NVIDIA SHIELD

Beta releases for Plex Media Server on NVIDIA SHIELD are available by enabling beta access for Plex Media Server on your Google Play account. To do so:

  1. In your browser, sign in to the Google account that’s being used on your NVIDIA SHIELD
  2. Browse to this page
  3. Use the Become a Tester button
  4. Go the the Google Play store on your SHIELD and if the current preview release version is newer than the regular release you should see an update available under My Apps

@macdat Check your media server log for errors.

My log file showed a database error. I restored the db from backup and Plex is running now.

Interesting. I’ll look up how to do that and try it

if you are using a shield as a server and don’t have it hooked up to a UPS battery backup you are going to run into database corruption problems more frequently. PMS does not like randomly being shut down. especially if it occurs a few time over say a 5 minute window. that means during boot up its getting shut down again.

A database corruption is a likely cause of this. If PMS can’t open it’s database, it won’t run. Checking your server logs ← click here, should say something about this if that is the cause. You’ll need to grab the logs manually as the web interface won’t work if PMS is not running.
