OOPS …
But, I’ll counter back to you saying, the very example I was discussing. logs show an obvious problem. If doesn’t exist, why would it not skip … this makes no sense
Anyway, as a test, I un-installed Plex, cleared all history from Program files and Appdata and reinstalled using an older version Media Server 1.32.7.7621 Oct 23
Adding and deleting files from Movies folder dynamically where seen to be added and removed on the client as I’m accustom to seeing without the need to manually scan. I then updated to current 1.41.4.946 and the dynamic went away.
While so far not the original problems posted of posters of Movies watched not being removed when the files are deleted, rather adding / deleting Movies require a manual scan.
So there is in theory a difference between the two releases
I’ll soak this load for a month and see if there are any further issues
It makes sense. Removal from library is disabled completely, if one of the media storages is missing. Because this can also mean a temporary removal, where one would not want to remove all items on that (e.g.) external hard drive to get ousted from the library. It is a precautionary measure against data loss.
Well … It’s been a while and I’ve soaked 2 updates and still no “Auto” update when adding or removing content. Each time I add or remove content, I need to manually scan the folders to see the updates … this problem persists on a local Win PC and on a QNAP running completely different content. The same has been mentioned to me from friends and family … “Hey, how come Plex doesn’t update automatically any more”
Unless there is some buried option that has been disabled, I’m asking … is this a bug or design intent removing the auto scan to libraries ?
