first off I know this is not the right topic thing for this bloody issue but the darn forum would not let me choose anything else, now to the problem I have setup my plex server, added my movies and such but plex’s metadata identifier has been misidentifying pretty much all of my content and it’s getting really annoying because I have found out some of my files won’t play through plex, so I need to go back and fix them but with the way the files showup in plex I have no bloody idea which are the files I need to fix, is there a way to just out right turn off the part of plex that shows you what IT thinks that video is, even if it really isn’t what plex thinks it is
Perhaps look here under Examining Your Media
https://support.plex.tv/articles/201998867-investigate-media-information-and-formats
well that helps me find the problem video files but after finding them it brings up more questions towards the part of plex that sets up what it shows you, it thinks your video is, because all of the videos it’s misidentifying are file named one thing and it shows them as a totally different video, for example the one video that I found the broken file, thank you, to you and that link, the file was actually titled This Christmas (2007) and plex was displaying it as the Timothy Olyphant hitman movie of the same year
You need to follow the naming guide found here:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/categories/media-preparation/
alright well after looing at that link. I want to ask, towards mini series, how would I go about renaming them so plex will actual see them and display them, if that mini series was never on TVDB, and also if it’s only say 15 episodes total would I just more or less tittle it like
/ShowName
ShowName - e01 - EpName.mkv
ShowName - e02 - EpName.mkv
ShowName - e03 - EpName.mkv
Can’t work blindfolded here…
Name of show please
it was called ZombieYou it was a weird pirate show some people made and got it aired on tv up where I am
Hmmm…If not found online, then Plex would either mismatch or fail to add it.
I would as such, put it in a seperate library of the type Other Video
alright, ok thank you
