Plex Metadata Problems Out of Nowhere

Happens for all players- PMS suddenly stopped playing movies due to error “unknown metadata type” in log along with a “Playback error-and error occurred loading items to play”- in the player. Keep in mind the movie worked fine 2 days ago. I tried every solution I could find, I even wiped the PMS and app from my windows machine and deleted directories and Reg keys. The only solution I have found is to un-match the movies, play it (it will play after unmatching), and then match it again. I have too many files to do this one at a time.

Its not all Movies, just some, and no TV files are affected.

I’m in the same boat. I just realized as well that unmatching the file fixes the issue and then if I rematch it, it happens again.

The beta version you are on has a big FFMPEG update in it, it may be related because I’m seeing playback errors in your logs.

Metadata is not related to playback.

I would suggest staying on the public release (1.42.2) until the 1.43.0 release is public.
