Plex metadata server "middleman" giving erroneous data

Server Version#: 1.43.4.10903

I’ve noticed 2 different cases now in my TV Shows database where specific episodes are listed out of order. What’s odd about both of these (“Bob and Margaret” and “Mama’s Family”) is that even when forcing it to refresh metadata, analyze, Fix Match, and changing advanced settings for the show to EXPLICITLY use “TheTVDB (Aired)” as the episode sorting, the episode metadata continues to stay incorrectly assigned and out of order. e.g. Bob and Margaret S01E08 should, according to TheTVDB, be “Friends for Dinner” but Plex continues to force it (and nearly every other episode so far) to be something else; in this case, Plex thinks S01E08 is “The Dental Convention”.

I ended up after clearing out caches, purging the database, and so on, having to give up with Mama’s Family and MANUALLY edited each incorrect episode and copied/pasted in the correct titles and descriptions. At the time, it had been the only case I had come across where the metadata was incorrect and where everything I had tried seemed to fail.

Now, this is happening with Bob and Margaret and I’m increasingly frustrated that Plex’s intermediary metadata caching once again seems to be the culprit. TheTVDB’s data is good; ideally I’d love to actually bypass Plex’s cloud middle-man and just go straight to TheTVDB again as I used to be able to do.

Anyone know if this is possible?

Wasn’t your fault, wasn’t even Plex’s fault. The external IDs on TMDB were pointing to the wrong episodes on TVDB for Season 5. I’ve corrected them. Give it 2 or 3 days & refresh metadata.

It’s most likely the same problem for Mama’s Family. Can you give me some specific episodes, then I can check on them.
