New Plex Agent not Finding match but it displays with the Legacy Agent

After adding a new movie to my Plex media server, I found that no matter how I changed the name, the New Plex Agent does not list a match for the title. I checked the data on themoviedb.org as well as on IMDB and even though it’s clearly displayed on both sites the new Plex agent can’t seem to find it.

I tried naming the file identically to the databases by copy and pasting, to make sure there were no typos, from both themoviedb and IMDB but it still doesn’t show up in the list.

The only way I could get it to show, using the new Plex agent, was by using the IMDB number for the movie itself. I pasted the number into the search title box directly, instead of using the name, and it finally came up.

This seems to be an error or bug with the New Plex agent.

I ran a test to check this, by switching to the Legacy Agent System.

As soon as I used the Legacy Agents, the movie displayed just fine. I then switched back to the new Plex Agent, and again the film didn’t show.

I have been using Plex for about 10 years and have personally added and organized thousands of Movies, TV shows, and Personal Media, to my (as well as others’) Plex Media servers. I also contribute to themoviedb.org directly by adding data and information on a regular basis.
I make this post because others may be having the same issue and I wanted to report that I believe it’s a bug.

Please don’t take this offence, since no prune intended, but there’s absolute nothing with can do here with the info you provided :frowning:

We need at least some of below:

  • At least the movie name and the IMDB ID
    • That way, we can check if this was a brand new addition, that simply wasn’t cached yet at Plex servers. (Can take up to 48 hours)
  • A screen capture from the root of your movie library, all the way down to the actual media
    • That way we can detect, if this indeed was a naming issue (Bad naming or simply a misspell)
  • Info about what Primary agent you are using
    ( New agent, or the old legacy one)
  • Log files right after doing a Plex Dance

I was rather frustrated last night when I hastily posted. I have revised my last post making it much clearer to understand. You can probably make more sense of what I was saying now, if you re-read it.

I don’t personally need help as I found a way to make it work and would have manually input the info had I needed too. I just wanted to put the info out there that I believe there is an issue with the new agent.

Is this fixed? Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is still not showing up for me… But Ghostbusters Afterlife, a newer movie does…

Yes

Try and rescan your library, and if still not showing, check naming

Folder should be like: Resident Evil Welcome to Raccoon City (2021) {imdb-tt6920084}

Same problem here, Legacy Agent using tvdb finds all stored TV Shows. Switch to new Plex Agent and several shows are delisted… I guess I’ll stick with Legacy until sorted…
