Any suggestions for the naming match of “Countess Perverse (1975)” from IMDB.com Countess Perverse (1975) - IMDb
Try TMDB and TVDB’s title of The Perverse Countess, or put the ID into the filename like Countess Perverse {tmdb-112447} or The Perverse Countess {tmdb-112447} to force a match automatically.
A movie subject and/or title like that might mean the movie is considered “Adult”, and your server might refuse to match it unless you Allow matching to explicit content in the Library’s settings. If you cannot get a match using the ID or an alternate name, try this.
Thanks so much for the tip about adding the {tmdb-xxxxxx} to the name in the matching box. I was unaware that trick and it worked perfectly.
No problem. The ID trick is an amazing bit of info that I feel is not pointed out more often. While a correct title can fix 99.9% of matching issues, there is always that .1% that refuses no matter how accurate your title is.
Or perhaps you like the filename you use (I number some movies in a series where the filenames do not sort alphabetically by release) but still want it to match automatically? Include the ID in the filename. With the Scooby Doo shows, I prefix their filename with the release year, and include the ID to prevent any odd matching.
One last trick, is to use the ID in the fix match dialog. If your file is already detected by Plex, and you don’t want to include the ID in the filename, paste the ID - including the site short name - into the search box like tmdb-112447 and the only search result should be your movie.
The ID trick also comes in handy in the rare cases where your db blows up and you have to rescan everything or you move and/or copy media files to a new or secondary Plex server. The troublemakers will get matched correctly automatically.
It does. I am looking forward in my life for when (hopefully only IF) my database goes belly up and I need to rebuild from scratch.
I use the ID trick in the filename ONLY when I do not use a filename that matches correctly on the first try. For several related TV Shows that I want grouped up. And for some anime that have troublesome names a mile long, I truncate them and include the ID.
