Plex Movie Agent not working with VPN

I have a QNAP 251+ that has a VPN running using their QVPN App using the OpenVPN protocol. I’ve been running this for the last half year or so and have been able to connect to Plex Movie Agent to download metadata. I would say over the last week (maybe after upgrading to server version 1.26) I cannot download the data. When I turn off the VPN it works fine. I did an install of 1.27 and it had no effect. I’m OK turning off VPN manually as a work-around but am thinking something changed so either 1) I need to tweak the VPN settings or 2) is there something on the Plex side that changed which needs to be fixed. I’m happy to provide logs if needed.

Are you manually blocking countries/etc from connecting with the VPN? The Plex backend uses Amazon Web Services and seems to periodically shift to other data centers (European ones, for example). This is probably done to not entirely bring services down when upgrading services, or just for load balancing.

I’m using Hotspot Shield in whatever default configuration they provide. I don’t see an option to block or configure. To make OpenVPN work they provide a configuration file for my NAS drive and it talks to a particular server in the country I set up. Hotspot Shield customer support wasn’t too helpful.
