Plex Movies & Shows listings displayed despite having it disabled

Server Version#: 1.42.2.10156
Player Version#: Roku 8.7

So this isn’t an app\server thing because this new “feature” showed up without any app or server updates in the last several weeks.

When I go to cast details screen:

This row now exists between my media library listings and the “Known For” row:

I thought maybe it’s an error - disabled online service things have shown up before and it was a bug - so I waited a day and restarted the app but it’s still there.

It does not show up on Plex Web (v4.152):

If I have all online services disabled I shouldn’t be seeing this row.

Edit: just updating tags

I’m also seeing this in the iOS app 2025.28.0 and I have all Online Media Sources disabled too.

Plex, please, can you have a look at this?

Thanks!

Unless I’m miss understanding your OP it’s always been like this since they rolled out discover credits, I even created a feat request to disable it Remove "Known For and Filmography" from Cast Discover Credits.

It hasn’t been there until now… there used to only be 2 rows (not counting the Featured Videos row). It was only Media Libraries and Known For rows (and the filmography button). The “Movies and Shows on Plex” for their online streaming service listings did not previously exist if all online services were disabled - maybe it showed if Plex Movies and Shows was enabled (would make sense), but I’ve had all online services disabled since it was introduced.

Personally I like the Known For row and Filmography buttons.

FYI… I’m on android and thankfully the legacy app does not see this advertisement section so I went and installed the newer version 2025.29 and it’s there.

Booooooooo…

Thanks for testing it… I’ll update the tags. :victory_hand:

Definitely feels intentional then. If so that’d be another enshittification flag - create a useful function, get customers used to it, then shoehorn in the paid content\ads.

I’m hoping it’s a setting on the Plex service side (because it’s clearly service side, not app side) that just isn’t reading our setting that it should be turned off but I’m not holding my breath.

Exactly.

“Known for” is okay but…

…is not.

I have Online Media Sources disabled for a reason.
