Plex movies/shows stop matching after a couple of days, so I'm constantly deleting/re-adding library

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488
Player Version#:

I’m running PMS on my Synology DS218+. I have this recurring problem where new movies added to my library are scanned and picked up by Plex. But they won’t match automatically nor change the poster to the MovieDB art and gather other metadata. When I go to manually match using TMDB, I get no matches. I’ve tried deleting everything from the caches folder (I’ve read to do this in other threads):

Plex > Library > Application Support > Plex Media Server > Plug-in Support > Caches

The only thing that works for me is deleting my entire library and nearly all the files from those cache folders.

Is there a permanent fix or some settings to change? I changed my Agents settings to match a solution to issues found in other threads. Ideally I’d like everything to automatically match to The Movie DB once Plex detects the new movies added.

Thanks

with DEBUG logs enabled (Verify VERBOSE is diabled),

Please force Refresh All Metadata for the library.

When it completes, settings - troubleshooting - download logs and attach the ZIP here.

We’ll see what’s happening

Hope mega is allowed for posting logs. Here ya go, thanks in advance!

I see a lot of failed DB transactions.

I would like you to do the following.

  1. Stop PMS.
  2. Open FileStation
  3. In the Plex share, Right click on Library -> Properties
  4. verify plex has full access. at that point.
  5. Now check the box (lower left corner) “Apply to this folder, subfolder, and files”
  6. “OK” (Apply)

Next

  1. Navigate Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Caches
  2. Delete all you see there

Lastly,

  1. Start PMS
  2. Go to where you are missing metadata / media,
  3. Scan files and “Refresh All Metadata”

Perfect, this seems to have worked. The movies missing metadata actually populated with the correct posters without me refreshing. I’m worried that this will happen again in a few days if I go to add more media, as has been the case in the past. Do you think I’ll have to keep doing this, or should the full control permissions be a permanent fix?

Thanks so much!

As long as your internet doesn’t get wonky, you’ll be fine.

I would go into Scheduled Tasks. You can turn off the Refreshing it does if you wish to be more secure.

So today I added a few movies to my library and same issue…they won’t match, can’t find matches manually, and I’m stuck with the random scene as the poster.

any other tips on how to resolve this? The Plex page for double NAT isn’t getting me anywhere. I use my own modem and router, not one provided by my ISP. If this means anything, I ALWAYS have the “Not available outside your network” error on the remote access settings, however, my remote access works fine. I watch live TV and stream movies/music regularly outside of my network.

I appreciate all of the help thus far

Thanks again for all the help! I realized it must’ve been a combination of Plex and Synology settings rather than router issues since my other server (installed on my PC, same network) doesn’t have these issues. I ended up deleting my server, uninstalling PMS and starting from scratch. Everything is running smoothly now.
