I run Plex on a Synology NAS 1618+. It seems to work well, but one of my movies I just ripped, keeps losing the info for it. I set it up and later it goes away. Do I need to do something on my end to the movie to get it to be recognized more easily? Thanks.
Make sure the video is “matched”.
If it cannot be matched, match it with the “Personal Media” agent. Only then start typing in your custom metadata.
When you say not appearing, are you meaning when I do a search in the Fix Match? If I type in the proper names and date etc. it does come up, but it just would not stay for an extended period. It has stayed since last night but now 2 others are now blank and I need to see what is going on there. I am brand new to this so please forgive my ignorance.
After going in and investigating it says No Matches Found for anything because the agent just say loading. I don’t know what happened because I have not done anything to it since last night when it was working.
I guess I’ll have to do some research.
Reboot the NAS, then let it sit for a few minutes.
Disable this preference for a few days and monitor the behaviour.
Settings - Server - Library - “Empty trash automatically after every scan”
Well, when I go into settings I get a message that says server settings are unavailable. I think I may have caused this on accident because I was looking at permissions and accidentally checked the wrong box and mistakenly hit ok. Stupidity makes more work sometimes. I just need to know what the permissions for a Synology nas should be. I’ll keep looking.
I went in and gave plex full permissions in the custom box. Whether that is right or not, I now have everything up and running again. The one movie is still there with all the info. I’ll go and try the info you listed above for the preferences.
Will I ever go back and reset the preferences to empty trash after every scan? Thanks.
Wait a few days.
Then you can re-enable it. If then the infos start to get lost again, you should consider to not spin down your hard drives while they are idle.
