I have a cable subscription that I use my HDHomerun Prime with. I also have an HDHomerun Extend, and would like to use it for over the air recording.
When you setup a DVR in Plex, only have one option for program guides for all the STB’s you add. It would be nice to be able to select the program guide independently from the STB. The STB’s allow you to select cable, antenna, ext. but not differ the program guide from the original DVR setup.
I thought I might be able to use the HDHomerun Extend with the HDHomerun DVR, but noticed there’s no way that I know of to have it independently recognized from the Prime.
Just setup another instance of the Plex server - you’d have to switch between them for live tv but you could also setup a 3rd server that would pull the libraries from each of the other servers so that all of the recorded tv shows would be in one server.

Sounds great. I have server 2016, can I just set that up on the same box as the one my current one is on? Hyper-V setup? Xen?
I would agree back to the beginning. The mapping option works if you put the Prime in first, then add the Connect (or Extend) but it’s sloppy and clunky and cable doesn’t have all the sub channels available, etc. It also does not work if the Extend or Connect is in place first.
My setup is probably more complex than most with 3 connects and a prime but it’s pain in the butt like that. A second DVR shouldn’t require a second server.
