This seem to be an issue on my Android clients (Nvidia Shield, Android Phones). I cannot play any music regardless of whether its sync’d or not. Server is on Windows. All clients and server are up to date with latest versions.
It plays for half a second, stops, and the gives me the error - An error occurred while playing this item
Music plays fine on web client, windows app, xbox, etc…
I want to bump this. I am seeing the exact same problem and it’s disappointing that there is no response here. The problem is reproducible 100% of the time. If running a recent version of the client on my Shield TV, all music will play for just a second or two and then quit with the super helpful “An error occurred while playing this item” message before moving on to the next song and doing the exact same thing in a loop. Occasionally it will just decide to work for a song and then it’ll break again.
Notably, uninstalling the Plex client update and using the old version baked into the system software on the Shield fixes this problem. It is an issue introduced some time between the system software revision and now, and it’s an issue specifically with this client. Plexamp plays fine, as does every other client on every other device I’ve tried.
I’m experiencing the same problem on two Nvidia shields and another unbranded android tv device. All my other clients work without that problem (android, web and windows). I have the logs and can share with the support team.
