Plex Music - Favorite songs

Hello, i’m having problem with “Favorite Songs” list. Like the best 5 songs. It automatically picked live versions of song because i have some live albums and collections. I tried to edit their metadata and hope it will switch to the studio album version but it didn’t. It switched to another collection album version. Did someone found a fix for this?

are you asking about a playlist, or the popular tracks list on the artist page ?

I’m guessing this is about Plex’s Popular Tracks section in music. I could see how someone would misinterpret it as “Your most popular” instead of the overall popularity.

I have this come up all the time, too. Here’s a random example.

Yup, if that is what he is referring to, its a common problem for everyone.

I don’t think there is a user solution, but I think they are working on something to collapse or combine/stack duplicate/multiple versions of a track to provide a better experience.

But I might also be dreaming, so don’t take my word for granite.

Honestly I wish they’d “just” (I know it’s never actually “just” when trying to code something) add a checkbox for “exclude from Popular tracks” in the album settings. Or if they see the same song title multiple times, only include the most popular version then skip the rest.

Anyway. I actually managed to have tracks switched but i don’t really remember what i really did. I was just wildly clicking and editing tags in hope it will pick other song. Well, it did. But after some more editing, i just broke whole album so e.g. i have 3x Smells Like Teen Spirit in one album and in other two it’s missing. Welp, it’s time for fixing.

Anyway thank you guys for response!

I think whichever album was added first into Plex, will appear at the top in Favorite Tracks…

Yep. This was my other thought. But i really don’t want to test it because it would mean i need to exclude every non studio album, scan it and after then i can import all the non studio albums. Thanx for possible fix anyway!
