My music library is mostly complete, but at least one of my albums isn’t showing up correctly.
I’ve checked and re-checked to ensure that the files are tagged correctly, and they are. The album has three discs, and discs 2 and 3 are showing up perfectly.
Disc 1 is just nowhere to be found in my library for some reason.
All of the files are tagged with Disc 1 / 2 / 3 in the exact same way. Any ideas on how to diagnose and resolve this?
I tagged everything a few years ago using MusicBrainz Picard. I used their recommended tagging method, which includes using the Disc / “Collection” tag for 1/3, 2/3, and 3/3 for the three discs.
My folders were originally organized like this:
Music / Spock’s Beard / Snow / Disc 1
Music / Spock’s Beard / Snow / Disc 2
Music / Spock’s Beard / Snow / Bonus Disc
And all the files inside those folders are named: /Disc 1
1-01 Title.mp3
1-02 Title.mp3
…
/Disc 2
2-01 Title.mp3
…
/Bonus Disc
3-01 Title.mp3
…
I tried placing all of those tracks in the same root directory instead of different physical file folders per disc, and re-scanned my library, but that didn’t help - after the change, my Plex still only shows disc 2 and 3 (the bonus disc).
Here is a sample of the physical files if you’re able to check them out - one random track from each disc shared directly from my music library which Plex is scanning:
Yes, this is looking good, overall.
Do you perhaps have several versions of this album or maybe an EP and an Album version?
Maybe the tracks of the disc 1 do appear in one of the other albums of this artist?
Are you aware of the Plex Dance?
(with music, step 4 can be omitted)
