Is there a solution to the ordering of tracks in multidisk albums? Eg I have a 2 CD album with tracks correctly ID3 tagged. Plex orders them tracks 1,1,2,2,3,3… etc, instead of splitting them by CD. Can this be fixed or should I consider tagging this album as 2 separate CDs. I would prefer to play it as one continuous CD in the order it was created. I guess I could also make a playlist…
There is a tag for the disc number. Fill it.

Thanks. I did have the tracks id3 tagged with disc number, but I can now see that I can also edit the disc number in Plex.
I noticed that some of my compilation albums read the disc number tag while some others did not.
You must know that the disc number tag should only contain a simple number.
1/2 or A1 etc won’t work everywhere, partularly not in Plex.

I think I saw that but I didn’t give it much thought. My disc numbers were labeled as 01 and 02. I am working with 2 compilation albums: Freezone 2 and Freezone 3. They were both tagged the same way with id3 tags as far as I can tell.
Freezone 3: Plex read the disc number tag and set up an album called Freezone 3. On the Freezone 3 page, I can toggle between two other pages, CD1 and CD2.
Freezone 2: Plex didn’t read the disc number tag so I manually edited it in Plex. Plex now has a page for the Freezone 2 album and on this single page there are 2 sections for CD1 and CD2.
I don’t know why these two albums are behaving differently. I think the Freezone 2 album is the better setup, where everything is on one page.
Which client is that? I don’t know this behaviour.

Ok, I see what to do. On the top line I can edit the album metadata. For Freezone 3, they have different album names, with a CD1 or CD2 suffix. I got rid of the suffix and now I have all the tracks in one album. But now I have to do and edit each track’s track number. I guess Plex just isn’t picking up disc number from the id3 tag (tagged using Mp3tag).
I see what’s going on:
CD1 is a part of the ‘AlbumTitle’
If you want both discs to appear in one album, the AlbumTitle must be exactly the same in all tracks of one album. That means that things like (CD1) must not be in it.
Plex will pick up the disc number, if all the other tags are in order.

What is the best way to force Plex to read the tags again? I changed the disc number tags to 1 and 2 and would like to try again. I just realized that Plex isn’t picking up the track artist either, so it’s not really grabbing the tags.
We call it the Plex Dance
