We'll have rich support for exactly that, but likely not in the first release, which we've feature frozen :) I personally hated those low-res IMDB trailers...
No, I'm not (but I understand why you would conclude that not knowing the whole story).
Good idea about the trailers, BTW.
I still don't know how to delete my profile?
don't delete your profile. let's get past this and be kind to one another ;)
how about that, free positivism on a sunny friday morning!
I love that idea, personally. I've always thought it quite amazing that the Plex forum members on a whole are such a friendly bunch. This place has been lucky enough - to a surprisingly large degree - to escape the kind of rancor commonly found on other forums, and I'd really like to keep it that way.
Agreed! “Can’t we all just get along?” Oh and great info about the trailers, glad that it is on your minds as well
Yeah, alright, I agree...
Since you insist and beg me (just kidding), I'll make this personal sacrifice (jesting again) and keep my profile active :D
No, really, let's move on in good spirit and return to that sacred (I mean that seriously) positive tone and constructive criticism.
Why? Because I really like Plex and enjoy using it on a daily basis. And because I really look forward to the next chapter (Nine)...
I promise not to post anything about time frames, whether "promises" were broken etc. However, I still maintain that communicative efforts should be much higher prioritized.
We're totally in agreement...doing the best we can with a limited number of people working in their spare hours :)
The best is donating now
Donation = more beer = fuel for coding = less time waiting for the chance to play with .9
Cheers

it takes great skill and practice to achieve and maintain the [Ballmer Peak](http://xkcd.com/323/), an advanced technique not to be attempted by novices.
I understand and respect that :-)
But why not try to recruit more manpower, then (maybe you are)? (And no, I am not a candidate)...
Difficult for me to understand why that feature is not just a copy/paste of the code that imports local cover art (tbn)...
A lot of things are difficult to understand if you are not a coder in this old legacy code environment. ;)
Excellent question Russ, I too would love to see this feature in the future.
By the way, I have dabbled with coding before, but am far from great - better at error fixing than actually coding from scratch. But if there are ways in which I could help then dont hesitate to let me know how.
Just a few posts back, we agreed to return to the friendly, positive tone. Yet, I pose two legitimate questions (manpower and fanart) which almost instantly are given negative votes. Why?
I find that rather negative, and the rating system equally meaningless if the rating user doesn’t elaborate…
I think if it were as simple as putting an add in the paper, it would have been done already ;)
I suppose in this case also, the devs probably have legit reasons to get rid of this legacy code. if there were a copy/paste type solution to get this fixed, it would have been done as well.
Heh.. I like how you dropped that tid-bit of information ... great news! :)
I've no coded plex at all - but I've looked at XBMC in detail before. Nothing in that beast would be as simple a cut and paste. And that is from a coder with 20+ years hands on experience in everything from micro controllers up to big iron (100+ CPUs per server). The only notable exception in code I've written is Java - and that's purposeful!
Anyways - I'm looking forward to seeing more of the result of all the effort the team has been putting in. So now it's feature frozen I'm hoping it won't be too much longer to wait; but then what the hey - another few months won't kill us and I'm pretty sure the weather at the moment is encouraging Elan outside at the bbq rather than inside in front of a screen.
I see. Thanks for your input.
Yeah, I also want the best possible release, although I think that it should be made clear if the release is not weeks but months away...
I'll probably spend most of my TV time this summer watching the World Cup (soccer) anyway...
Someone has to ask it, so I'll spare the rest of you the job. Why? Why on earth has that to be made clear? Dont get me wrong, I understand you are curious, many are. But really... WHY do you think it has to be made clear? Why can't you just let this rest and enjoy Plex 0.8.5? And yes, the World Cup is coming up really really soon. Amazing football for all of us. Yay! :)
We'd love to make it perfectly clear, but as many have pointed out, we can't. It's the combination of part time coding and software engineering in general.
So it may seem like we're withholding critical information, or we knew six months ago that it would take six months instead of two, but hey, we didn't, and that's just life :)
Can we get back on topic?
