Well I should say I’ve restarted my computer about 4 times since this started happening. As well as restarting the server.
But I went ahead just now and did “Menu > Exit” to stop the server. then restarted the server. And everything remains the same. In that a) video files won’t play and b) I’m unable to add any directory in my harddrive as per the second picture.
Then it is safe to assume that you are not running it as a service.
However, this means that I am officially out of ideas. About what could be the reason why Plex cannot use your drive letter H:
If this is a regular external drive without any fancy encryption or some such, I see no reason why Plex cannot access it.
literally had to be something in the update… the day I can afford to build my own machine can not come quick enough.
Thanks for the ear though Otto. someone in another thread suggested I could try upgrading to the beta… any idea how do do that? Or is that a plexpass feature?
note down your current Plex Server software version
Stop Plex Server using its tray icon.
uninstall Plex Server with the regular ‘Apps’ control panel of Windows. Do not use 3rd party ‘uninstaller’ software like Revo etc. Do not use Registry cleaners/optimizers.
go to your Plex data folder.
There is a subfolder in there, named Updates which will contain previous versions of the installer .exe
execute the installer for the previous software version
reboot Windows (just a safety measure, it may work without rebooting as well)
