Plex Media Server Logs_2019-05-15_00-50-45.zip (2.5 MB)

So this is the sort of thing I’m talking about

Every video is unavailable and nothing I can do fixes it. I’ve got the problem sourced down to the fact that plex doesn’t see my external drive

I’ve enabled logging and uploaded my logs.

So my issue is similar to - PlexMediaServer-1.15.4.994-107756f7e-x86_64

Basically I updated and even since plex doesn’t see my external drive. like at all.

Stop Plex server
Restart Plex Server
Scan Library Files

Well I should say I’ve restarted my computer about 4 times since this started happening. As well as restarting the server.

But I went ahead just now and did “Menu > Exit” to stop the server. then restarted the server. And everything remains the same. In that a) video files won’t play and b) I’m unable to add any directory in my harddrive as per the second picture.

Are you running the server as a system service?

Do you have several Windows user accounts?

Is drive H: a network share or an external hard drive?

  1. Unsure. I want to say no but I’m not positive on that. If you mean like this, then yeah it’s configured to run at start.

  2. No. One account

  3. External Drive.

Sorry, in this thread there are several different methods described. Which one are you using?

Apologies. I didn’t read the full thread. I have plex configured to run at start like this

using the option to just “Run Server at Login”

Then it is safe to assume that you are not running it as a service.
However, this means that I am officially out of ideas. About what could be the reason why Plex cannot use your drive letter H:
If this is a regular external drive without any fancy encryption or some such, I see no reason why Plex cannot access it.

literally had to be something in the update… the day I can afford to build my own machine can not come quick enough.

Thanks for the ear though Otto. someone in another thread suggested I could try upgrading to the beta… any idea how do do that? Or is that a plexpass feature?

Betas are only accessible with a Plex Pass, yes.

ok good that explains why I couldn’t find it.

how hard is it to downgrade?

Rolling back on Windows works as follows:

  1. note down your current Plex Server software version

  2. Stop Plex Server using its tray icon.

  3. uninstall Plex Server with the regular ‘Apps’ control panel of Windows. Do not use 3rd party ‘uninstaller’ software like Revo etc. Do not use Registry cleaners/optimizers.

  4. go to your Plex data folder.
There is a subfolder in there, named Updates which will contain previous versions of the installer .exe

  5. execute the installer for the previous software version

  6. reboot Windows (just a safety measure, it may work without rebooting as well)
