The exact same thing for me …

Exactly the same here. Waste of time ‘update’, cannot access any media whatsoever on Synology Diskstation.

Hi yoeps. Where or who can I dowload the the latest version and went back to …993…spk?

It does not let me take the step back to the previous update. I’ll have to wait for Plex to fix the error.

Thanks Yoeps

Same thing happened for me, but I was able to uninstall via the Package Center, and then do a Manual Install of 1.15.4.993. My fear was losing all the accumulated metadata, but it worked fine.

In my frustration and 1.5 hours of searching, I found this last night and used the most recent on this list which worked for me. 1.15.5.994-4610c6e8d-x86_64.spk

I did not uninstall the latest version, I just applied this version right over the top.

Running on DS1515+

Good luck!

I had this same problem and came up with the same uninstall/downgrade solution. After following the tip in this post, however, I was able to upgrade to the latest version again.

Follow the instructions in Q18 of the FAQ and use SSH to reset the permissions on your media library. It worked for me.

@killdozer65. i’m sorry to say but it does not work for me

@yoeps It didn’t work for me at first but then I went back and made sure to follow the instructions exactly.

First, I shut down plex. Then:

  • give admin and plex users r/w permission on your media folder(s) in control panel
  • ssh into your nas
  • run: sudo -su root
  • reset permissions to 600 on everything in your media folder tree
  • set directory permissions to 755 in the media tree
  • set file permissions to 644 in the media tree
  • set ownership of the media folder(s)

Then I restarted plex and waited a few seconds and the Unavailable tag started disappearing on the problem media files. Make sure to do this for all your media folders – at first I did only my main media folder, but forgot that the problem files were stored in another top-level shared folder on /volume1.

@killdozer65 thanks for coming back to me!

when i typed find ./my_media_folder_name_here -type d -exec chmod 755 {} ;
i repeatedly got the answer on my screen: operation not permitted
That was the reason i went back to …993…

@yoeps Did you run “sudo -su root” right after you ssh into the nas? I had forgotten to put that step in, so I added it.

@killdozer65 I ran sudo -su root now. I indeed forgot.
It’s doing its job now, so i have to wait.
I’ll let you know as all has passed.
And…thanks again!

@killdozer65 Thanks to you it’s running now!
Thank you very much for helping me out so patiently.
You might be living close to me which could me offering you a pint. :>)
Take care!
