So i bought a qnap nas and am in the process of moving everything there. I’ve only added tv shows so far. First problem was almost all of them pulled in under American Gods. I deleted that to try again, and now Plex will not add any of the shows that pulled in under American Gods. I’ve emptied trash and done the Plex dance, nothing. Tried moving to a new directory. Nothing. Is it just naming? They had no issue on my old Plex server. How do i get these shows added again?
How are your files named? and what is your folder layout? (ideally with screenshots to make it easier)
At work so i can try and update with pictures later. I have a TV shows folder which is what i scan. Each show is a folder just listed as it’s name, such as ‘Two and a Half Men’. All are the same in that respect. In that folder is seasons and in those is the episodes. Those vary quite a bit. They’ve always scanned in fine on my current mini pc Plex server, but not great moving to the nas. And now don’t scan in at all anymore.
I am having the same issue, I couldn’t find an answer anywhere.
I moved the server to a new machine, and now all I can load is 1 TV show at most, and yes I have it named properly since I had PLEX server run on 2 other machines previously and everything was fine.
I’ve looked everywhere for an answer and no luck, I am really hoping that someone might have an answer.
Same question for you then… can you share a specific example of how the files are organized/named? Your new setup is probably using the new(er) Plex TV Series agent which is a little more strict when it comes to certain deviations from the naming schema.
At this moment I have my TV series folder organized the following way (which I might add was working fine on the previous machines, and I do understand that there was a change)

and I even tried removing the episodes title, as well as lowering the case of the S and E (probably useless) I even tried reinstalling plex and accessing it via different broswers, to sync the shows.

I would like to add one more thing. I attempt to sync the shows everyday, in the hopes it will work, however, for example, let’s say I have Caprica synced when I try to add Outsourced, all Outsourced episodes are being added to the Caprica’s folder on plex.
I took a few screenshot of the server looks like on my end
This is what I managed to sync
This is what the system shows ( Halo isn’t even in the list)
Here’s your mistake… you only need to add the library folder (here: X:\TV Shows), not the folders of each individual show to your library!
It’s a rather common confusion. We’ve already asked Plex to „refine“ the wording on the Add Folder section to be more specific about what folder(s) to be added.
@nopunintended what tom said, Point your library to X:\TV Shows and it should work.
Thank you I will give it a shot! ![]()
Thank you, let’s see if it works.
It worked, thank you so much for all your help and you as well dbirch, I did not think of doing that.
The problem is fixed, now I can continue adding more.
