I’ll from time to time delete movies I no longer want through Windows Explorer. I believe Plex would then delete the movie after a scan takes place. That does not seem to be occurring anymore even after repeated tries.
If doing so, then make sure, that in your settings/library, you have Empty trash automatically after every scan checked
Or empty the trash manually.
If your media storage is not inside the plex server machine, I recommend to leave this check box off.

I guess that doesn’t apply to me - Plex is on the server. And all metadata is saved in movie folders. I use some plugin to ensure I can still use Kodi like metadata handling as I think it belongs within folders not separate.
