Plex not displaying music albums very well

Not sure if this has been answered before, I have looked without success so apologies in advance if it has.
I have close to 100GB of music and I would say about 60-70 % of it is displaying correctly through Plex. However, there are quite a lot of albums that are displaying individual tracks as separate albums. For example, I have the complete “Now that’s what I call music” collection, and some are displaying OK where as others are not. I have followed the naming convention that Plex suggests (sort of(in that what I have works for some albums but not others)). My folder structure is \(Network)\Music\Now that’s what I call music
ow that’s what I call music 1 (through to 94) and each album separated with Disk 1 and Disk 2 then the tracks named, <track#> - - .mp3. I use a 3rd party app called media monkey to make sure the ID3 tags are set correctly downloading them from the web. Also have tried duplicating what I have for a working album to a non working album. I have removed fixed and reinserted into plex rescanning everytime and still this does not fix the issue. I would really like to tidy my Plex music folders as both my Movies and TV are working awesomely.
Please can someone shed some light on this and maybe suggest another ID3 tagger software in case this one is not up to the standards of Plex.
Loving Plex so much, just wish my music looked a lot better.
Thanks in advance.

I haven’t used Media Monkey, but from all reports, it’s pretty good.

My first question is, is Plex configured to prefer your embedded tags over online sources?

If it is, and you are still seeing these mistakes, I’d like to see screenshots of the ID3 tags for two tracks: one that gets correctly cataloged, and one that doesn’t, from the same album.

“Now that’s what I call music”
is a typical ‘sampler’ style album.
You need to make sure all tracks of one album have a common ‘AlbumArtist’ embedded in their metadata.
‘AlbumArtist’ is not the same as ‘Artist’!

Having your music stored in a proper Artist > Album > Tracks hierarchy helps

Thank you both for your comments thus far. I think I am getting a bit further with this one.

Yes I do have that setting checked as I like to make sure I do things by the book before posting comments and making myself look stupid. Sorry, I should have said in my OP

The problem I am having now is that it is wanting to list all the artists as Various artists, This is bareable though not ideal as sometimes I like to see which artist is on a particular now album. I am sure I have tried setting album artist to various and then individually setting the track artist but this did not work. I will have another go at this to make sure and if I have problems, I will post some screen shots.

Again thank you for you help up to now.

Sorted… Took several re-tagging attempts making sure I had track artists and album artists set correctly (Sure I did that before). Now I can see just the one Album, listed as various artists but when I go in, it now lists all tracks with the correct artist. Awesome.

Again thank you both, just needed someone to bounce ideas off I guess.

Now I just have 100gb of songs to tidy up.
