Plex not finding server

Server Version#:1.19.1
I have a QNAP 453Bmini hosting PMS I am unable to detect my server I have tried every solution from various forums to no avail. I’ve deleted the Preferences.xml and restarted the server, I’ve even tried to open a new Plex account if that had worked I would have taken out another PLEX Pass, I’ve logout/login numerous times with no luck. I changed my computer 6 weeks ago and its since then I have had this problem.
Since I posted I now get 404 Not Found when I launch PLEX?

Plex Media Server.zip (1.6 MB)

I have been testing EMBY since I posted my problem and am finding it very easy to use.
So after spending many weeks trying to get PLEX to work I think its time to give up?
I hope my life lasts longer than my life time pass did.
Regards

I just got this alert.

@rayhogarty

  1. You turned off DEBUG logging (it’s on by default). I can’t see anything.
  2. It can’t find the executable code nor your metadata which resides in the QPKG directory This is a grossly damaged installation. NAS power failure at some point???.

There is no choice here.

  1. Sign out of the upper right corner of Plex (if you can)
  2. Uninstall it.
  3. Restart the QNAP (yes, I know and I don’t say that lightly)
  4. While it’s rebooting . go to app.plex.tv -> Settings - Authorized devices -> Servers
  5. REMOVE the server entry for this QNAP.

When the NAS is up again, Download again and Install fresh.

Thank you for your help, I carried out your instruction to the letter but still PLEX wont start, it just opens and then the screen goes dark with the word plex in the center.
I will send my logs.
Plex Media Server.zip (1.3 MB)

Just carried out your instructions again incase I got it wrong first time.
I am still getting a blank screen with the PLEX name in the center.
I think I am getting to the time when I should just give up as its driving me crazy.
Regards

What’s the IP Address of the workstation used?
(It has to be in the 192.168.1.x IP Net)

Did you try another browser, since I do see the PMS sending out an unclaimed broadcast, so maybe your browser has some plugins blocking the broadcast?

Apr 28, 2020 10:30:16.892 [0x7fa31ae6b700] DEBUG - MyPlex: Sending unclaimed device connections

If you browse towards http://192.168.1.104:32400/identity does the browser then shows an xml, and dows that have an entry saying: claimed="0"

Yes it does say claimed=0

I logged out of my NAS and then downloaded windows PLEX server and app which I had not done before as I only ever used the nas as my server. Yes you guessed that did not run either I just get a blank screen with a revolving circle in the middle. I looks like I am doomed on the plex front?

Not yet…

Did you try another browser?
What is the IP of your workstation?

And please answer all my Q’s, in order to get this fixes, instead of just one !

OK sorry about that, I will have to download another browser as I only have chrome?.
The IP of my NAS is 192.168.1.104:8080 is that what you wanted?
The IP for PLEX is 192.16.1.:32400

I will come back when I have tested on another browser.

And the IP of your workstation?

Have logged on to plex on Firefox and I get no soup for you. Authorised Devices now shows my NAS but I cant log on to it.

MediaContainer size=“0” claimed=“1” machineIdentifier=“65a8a71c5798e08454e6b2b98f64ce5cdd73fc51” version=“1.19.1.2645-ccb6eb67e”>
Thats changed to claimed=1

Workstation 192.168.1.110

New set of logs please, and this time only zip the log directory

Logs (2).zip (193.4 KB)

Okay, it seems like your server is now finally claimed, but I see another error:

Not a directory: "/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/Library/tmp"

Can you confirm, that you have a directory named tmp right below your Library directory?

And if not, then from within QNAP AppCenter stop PMS and create it, and if it’s a file, then delete the file, and create the directory instead, and it’s VITAL that you use lower characters in the name

Just updated to latest qpkg and it is working fine using Firefox. Will try to run from Chrome as soon as it finishes loading libraries.

Yes tmp is there.

Then this could suggest a damaged filesystem!

Tried to run on chrome no luck. Running on firefox perfect?
May have to stick to Firefox.
Will try and load on my Nvidia on my TV.
will be back shortly.

Check browser plugins, as well as try in incognito mode

Working on streamer and LG app. Incognito perfect. Chrome, no luck. OK look like I will be able to either use Firefox or Incognito on chrome. Thank you very very much for all your help, you have stopped me going insane.
Regards
Ray
