Cannot access plex media server on QNAP TS451+ after update of plex

Server Version#:I have updated my plex media server to the latest version available on QNAP (1.2.22 date 1 Apr 2021)
Player Version#:

I upgraded my QNAP NAS to plex 1.2.21 and after that I could no longer access plex on the server. I logged in and verified that the processes are running but I can’t access it via plex or directly (http://192.168.20.40:32400/web/index.html) The Plex web app tells me ‘app.plex.tv is unable to connect to “QNAP” securely’ and does not offer an insecure option. No matter how I try to connect to it, I get a 503 error. I noticed that a newer version came out today and tried that upgrade, hoping it was a bug in1.2.21. That made no difference.

When I look at the process table for plex processes I see plenty of processes and it is running:

I am assuming that possibly a setting is messed up. I tried replacing the Preferences.xml file but that made no difference. Since I can’t get the web interface to open this instance of plex, I am not sure how to view/replace settings (or what to change,)

Any advice would be appreciated.

@johnrharlow

May I have the logs please? (ZIP file)

Process listings don’t really provide any info.

Here they are. Since my post I tried downgrading my version. Made no difference. This is a recursive zip of everything in the logs directory plex.logs.zip (2.8 MB)

Thank you for grabbing that. I see it instantly

files are missing from the installation.

We can use wget and install via the command line if you like in order to circumvent browser issues if you’d like?

I also strongly urge leaving DEBUG logging on. I can't see what PMS was trying to do in these files. i only see the errors.

That would be great. I am much happier at a command line

Which version of PMS would you like ? 1.21.1.4275 (public) or 1.22.2.4276 ?

I’d like to go with the latest if possible. 1.22.2…

from the shell:

cd /share/Public
wget https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server-new/1.22.2.4276-3cbd5e781/qnap/PlexMediaServer-1.22.2.4276-3cbd5e781-x86_64.qpkg

chmod +x PlexMediaServer-1.22.2.4276-3cbd5e781-x86_64.qpkg

./PlexMediaServer-1.22.2.4276-3cbd5e781-x86_64.qpkg

QTS console install mode engages

So I downloaded it, made it executable and ran it. Here is the result

chmod +x PlexMediaServer-1.22.2.4276-3cbd5e781-x86_64.qpkg
[/share/Public] # ./PlexMediaServer-1.22.2.4276-3cbd5e781-x86_64.qpkg

Based on that error, it looks like another process has the port. I will restart the NAS and see what happens.

OOOPS.

Did you stop PMS that was running?

Simple stop & restart at this point.

Yes. It appeared to be stopped. I verified no plex processes in process table. I’ll see what a reboot does. Worst case, I’ll run that install process again after the reboot.

there might (?) have been a stuck process ? (not common but does happen on QNAP)

Hopefully this painful reboot process will fix it. If all is not well, I’ll verify with lsof that 32400 is available before I install again.

I ended up having to make sure it was stopped and installing again.

Everything started fine. I can now connect locally to my plex server process (via http, not https) but when I try and connect from plex.tv I get

I have not changed any ports or any router configuration. Any thoughts on settings in Plex I should check?

hey,

It seems a fix has been released - others have had the same issue.
Grab v 1.22.1.4275 or 1.22.2.4276.

I have the same problem, updated to version 4275 did not improve it, hope if you solve it, can tell me the solution

I was personally on v1.22.2.4262 on my QNAP (with no problems) and moved to 1.22.2.4276 (also with no problems),

@BacchusYun

Please use one thread or the other. I can’t follow a user through multiple thread.

Thank you.

PlexMediaServer-1.22.2.4276-3cbd5e781-x86_64 will not even load, It says invalid file format. Also on QNAP. Loaded fine on my Synology.

@mbeaver19

invalid file format means you got the wrong one or it corrupted during download
