ive had the simpsons tagged for years…all of a sudden, the new season wouldnt tag correctly so i did a refresh…all the metadata was wiped clean and cannot retag

files are named properly and similar to the jpg i upped

im using Win7 and chrome Version 59.0.3071.115 (Official Build) (32-bit)

thanx for any help offered

Well, based just on that one picture, you naming convention is terrible. It’s no wonder you can’t get any matches for your data. You need to rename your media and follow the Plex naming requirements. The link is in my signature.

You will need to do the Plex dance for all of your improperly named media. Move your media out of the scanned directories, do a library scan, rename all of your media so it’s correct, move it back in, and do another library scan. Those aren’t all the steps for the dance - do a search for plex dance and you’ll get the entire procedure.

i know the file names arent the conventional (or ideal) name for plex…BUT these filenames have been tagged correctly many times…theyve been through reinstalls of plex servers on new PCs as well as movement across different HDDs…also done randomly, were multiple dances (with the exception of renaming..trash and bundles were cleared)…it is only this last dance that wiped out all the metadata…

this is an example of another file name that lost the metadata and wont retag…
V:\TV SHOWS\The Simpsons\Simpsons Season 06\Simpsons S06E01 Bart of Darkness.avi
i know this is more to plex’s standard, but all files never had a problem before

The great thing about incorrectly named media is that they can work just fine, and then suddenly not work at all. The example you gave for The Simpsons is also not named correctly. Really, you need to read the naming rules and get your media named in accordance with Plex requirements. You can use Filebot to make this chore much easier.

thanx…i’ll rename a few quick to see if it helps and get back to you

just started working again after 2 days…no renaming…thanx for the help…if it flushes the metadata again, ill consider renaming
