When I search for it it’s there but I don’t see the poster listed in my list, but I see everything about the movie when searched. I have done everything right as the rest of them so I see the posters, something is amiss, DEVs should look into this issue.
Don’t get me wrong – I’m all for believing it… but it’s quite a bold claim without sharing the slightest details.
Have you already done some basic troubleshooting?
e.g.
- can you confirm the search result is actually referring to an item from your local library (vs. a result from Plex’
Where to watchsection)? - sort your library by anything but
By Title(e.g.By Year) and look for the movie – this should show items hidden inside a collection - filter your library for
Duplicates; if you find some… are those items where you intended to have multiple versions or could some of them be accidentally merged (e.g. based on naming mix-ups) – you can find info what files are linked to an item in different ways, e.g.
> Infoor⋮>Get Info. - display your library
By Folderand navigate to the folder of the missing movie(s) – if it’s mismatched as some other item, that “wrong” item should still be listed in the correct folder - …
How did you organize and name your movies inside their library folder?
Any embedded metadata that could cause them to be mismatched as some different movie?
My HDD Library, yes it’s shared I see the rest of them.
My back to the future movies I have all three but only 2 and 3 I see I don’t see the first one, all 3 are of AVI format.
Let me suggest something about your file naming/organization might not be all perfect…
I added “A Day To Die” in my folder it doesn’t show up
When I search for it, it shows it’s listed, but I don’t see it in the alphabetical list
I file name like the rest I see.
right click>Properties>Edit from there I make sure it’s done right.
Here is a screenshot of the alfa list Screenshot by Lightshot “A Day To Die” is not listed but when I search for it I’ll see this Screenshot by Lightshot

Consider Sort Title
Plex will drop common articles like the, a or an from titles when sorting them… so the item might be listed in the D section.
You can verify this on the General tab when editing your movie (e.g. after opening it from your search results) → check the Sort Title field
Collections
Plex might have added the file and associated to an automatically created Die Hard collection.
- option 1: make sure your library is sorted
By Titleand look for aDie Hardentry (collection entries list the number of items they contain below their title while movies list the release year) - option 2: switch to the
Collectionstab and check forDie Hard - option 3: sort your library
By Yearand find it among the items from2022
Okay I see it, Thank You! That’s weird why would they do it that way?
I suppose you’re asking about dropping the articles for sorting?
Consider 70-80% of your library will be sorted under A or T if they keep the articles – this is why libraries usually sort without leading articles.
If you don’t like it you can configure Plex to stop dropping the articles. This is a hidden option which is only available by editing the Plex registry entries. If you clear the value of that option, Plex will no longer ignore articles for newly added items (existing items will not automatically overwrite their sort titles).
