Plex is not loading metadata for some movies. The movies have metadata embedded. They are .m4v files. Is it possible Plex won’t load metadata from IMDB or Themoviedb if it finds embedded metadata?

If the embedded metadata Title / Name fields are garbage or conflicting or the file names are all junked up, it will not match. Without a match, there will be no metadata.
Listed in the UI does not guarantee match.

12 Angry Men (1957) [tt0050083].m4v
The Whales of August (1987).mp4
Some of the filenames have the IMDB identifier in brackets. That has not been a problem in the past. But the second item does not and too isn’t loading metadata
First, Anything in [xxxxx] is ignored by Plex entirely. You could write [Lunch time!] and it would not care
Both of those file types can carry metadata (Title) info. What does mediainfo show for that?
If you don’t have mediainfo, ffmpeg -i filename.ext will also show you this.
I will use Mediainfo

Chuck,
Do you have any further suggestions on this problem?
