Plex not matching properly named shows

I moved some shows around and cleaned up mp4 files with naming messed up. When I moved The 100 (2014) and The Chosen (2017) to different subfolders than where they were originally now Plex can’t match them. They were correct prior to the move. I’ve verified on thetvdb that the naming is good and the shows exist. I’ve done the Plex dance a few times, but still, when I click Match, neither show exists as an option no matter what I do.

I just got this PMS update this morning and i’m worried that this is an issue now. I’ve not had this before now. Any thoughts.

You shouldn’t put TV shows into subfolders, they should be at the folder that the library is looking at.

If your library points to D:\TV Shows, your shows should be at that level.

Good - D:\TV Shows\The 100 (2014)
Bad - D:\TV Shows\CW Shows\The 100 (2014)

I tried The 100 with just the first episode snd Plex picked it up and found the correct metadata.

Yeah, that’s not the issue otherwise Plex wouldn’t find anything and I have WAY more than a couple shows. Everything is connected with a network share path for my local RAID setup so it’s \server_name\share_name\Cancelled or Over\The 100 (2014).

Literally all my shows are in the same share and match just fine.

In the Plex “match” function it has The 100 (2014) with the year set to 2014. Doesn’t matter what I change in there to be just 100 with 2014 as the year, take out the year and just do The 100 or 100, nothing. It can’t find the show.

Same with The Chosen.

I know it’s not the solution to your problem but you can Fix Match by using just the TVDB ID number in the search field.

The 100: 268592
The Chosen: 356992

THAT’s how you do that?!?! I’ve wondered for years about that but never seen anything saying as much. face palm
Thank you so much. That worked perfectly. and for the time being, i’m happy with it.
I wish they’d update that match field to be Title or TVDB ID. That way you’d know what you can search by in that field.

I can confirm that The 100 is NOT coming up when trying to do a manual match. Let me check if it’s Plex or TheTVDB acting up.

It came up for me by just adding The 100\Season 1\S01E01 - Pilot.mkv to my existing library.
Plex found the correct metadata and art.
