Plex not obeying music album naming

For so many albums I have several versions. I have named and tagged each of these accordingly. For example, I might have the original, the HDtracks version, yet another remastered version, a version remastered by a particular engineer/producer/whatever. You get the picture. In any Plex player their names are all the same! Super frustrating and the only thing keeping me from walking away from Subsonic.

I can go into Plex player on my desktop and edit the album name but it’s a major PITA simply to need to do it, and the process itself is difficult. Since they all look alike I can not easily tell which is which. The best way I have so far discovered is to remove all the trouble albums then add back, one album at a time, editing the titles as I go.

Please tell me I’m missing something!

If you’re absolutely certain your tags are well organised, you can use the “prefer embedded” preference on the library settings:

This works for album titles but only after a full re-scan of the library.

I still have other issues with how the library appears when viewing by Artist, but that’s for another thread if it comes to that.

Have exact same issue. If I manually force unmatch on the problematic album I can get back to my custom tags - after each library scan some, but not all revert to an incorrect match. Fairly confident my tags are correct.
