Matching Albums - Not including correct info

Hi, I’m running a plex media server in my nas and I’ve got the correct folder structure, however I found that many of my file names had the disc number at the beginning I.e. 1-01 The Final Countdown.aiff.

I have removed this but plex is still showing the original name convention in the folder information. I get it to desynchronise and then do it again, but same problem. Am I missing something? Anybody else having this issue?

Compilation albums are being awkward too. Vast majority of my aiff digital library worked perfectly with the plex pass music library auto finder.

After correcting file names perform the Plex Dance with the files of the album.
For music, you can omit step 4 of the Dance.

That’s great, thanks! Have you any experience with albums matching but only applying data to certain songs?

My Europe Album is matching correctly, but the track names are still showing with the Track Numbers in, as they look when you see them in the Folder they’re stored in.

It’s weird!

I’m not sure what you mean here. Do you mean the album is matching OK as such, but certain songs are wrong or missing?

Give it a couple more minutes, then press ‘refresh’ on the album and wait again 1-2 minutes.
If it is still wrong I’d like some log files, please.

Thanks for the quick response. I tried deleting the Europe folder, and replacing it with the same album again after a few minutes. Plex has picked up the album, named everything correctly, but now is completely ignoring the first 3 tracks. It’s surreal!

Tried it with my Beatles album too. Deleted, replaced, and now shows perfectly! Refresh button isn’t helping with missing files.

Probably has to do with embedded tags.
These tags must be present and contain the same content if the tracks belong to the same album.

Album Artist
Album Title
disc # (of course if the album has more than one disc, this may not be same on all tracks. but if it is present on one track it must be present on all tracks)

important: on multi-disc albums, the Album Name tag must not contain the disc number.
The Album Title must be exact the same across all discs of the same album.

these embedded tags must also be present, each with sensible content:

Artist (can be different from the Album Artist)
Track Title
Track Number
Release Year

Don’t forget to Plex Dance if you changed file/folder names or ‘structural’ embedded metatags.

I’m running the lot now. Will leave it overnight. It’s a 24TB server so it may take some time. I had to research what you meant by Plex Dance, but if this works … i’ll be dancing for joy. Been tearing my hair out over this

Thanks again for your help so far.

Hooo, slowly with the young horses!
I only meant to use this with your test library and those files of which you changed either file names, folder names or embedded metatags.

I had to research what you meant by Plex Dance, but if this works …

err, I actually linked to the procedure in my first response.

I know, I realised that afterwards. I’m working with it and it looks better, thanks!

Still getting some odd behaviour. Odd track missing, but I shall investigate. May need to get my Plex Groove on :))
