Plex is working fine on Firefox but I am considering switching to chrome browser due to continued degradation of Firefox speed and stability at each (frequent) release. Plex loads fine on Chrome but will not play many of my MP4 files, come up with the “problem playing this file” message. I have tried all the web suggestions to disable direct play, check temp file storage size, disable HTML5 player etc with no effect. I notice this seems to be a frequent issue and would appreciate some suggestions to try to fix.
You could attach your Plex Media Server.log after reproducing the issue.
Enable debug logging and exit the server.
Wait one minute for the server to shutdown.
Restart the server and give it a couple of minutes to perform startup tasks.
Start playback of an item you know will fail. Give it a minute or two.
Exit the server, grab the Plex Media Server.log and attach to your next post.

How do I attach files in the forums?
Thanks for the input, as the plex server is running on my WHS2011 remote server I remoted into the server to follow your suggestion and decided to load chrome on the server to see what would happen. Chrome on the server plays the videos fine so it looks like the problem has to do with the chrome setup on my desktop PC (Win 7).
Solved the problem, disabled hardware accelerated video flag under chrome://flags and the videos now play fine. Not sure what this flag does as I am running an AMD APU which has hardware accelerated video decode capability but it is now fixed.
