Plex not recognizing new movie

Long time Plex user. Recently noticed a problem with Plex recognizing a TV Show and a movie that I just downloaded. Both were in MKV format. Other MKV for same TV show, but different seasons are recognized. Tried moving files into root of library, renaming folder, renaming files, converting to mp4 with VLC. Nothing seems to be working. Run out of ideas so I’m asking the hive mind.

90% of the time it is due to the files not following the movie naming or tv show naming guides. The type of file ( mkv, avi, etc) generally does not matter unless it is an unsupported file type like an .iso.

Other wise make sure the file is in the right type of library. Files named like TV show will be ignored in a movie library and vice versa

I figured it out. The TV show is shown in some databases as the 3rd season and in others as a separate show. It’s an anime. Following the naming scheme as a separate show fixed it. I’ve never had this problem before. The movie showed up, but not in recently added. Might be because it was in the database before. Thanks for your help.
