Plex Not Responding After Upgrade

I have this exact same issue as Steve, the only difference is all my files are located on the same pc as the server. My issues seems to have started almost the same day. I am running on a windows 10 pc. Would you be able to contact me? The last week has been driving me crazy

Mod Edit: Relocated to Windows section of the forum. The original thread was for QNAP NAS. @FordGuy61.

Also if I restart my server it will work as long as I play something but 5-10 mins after the video is not being played it goes back to that never ending maintenance issue. Thank you

@Warr1895

I can’t be of help with Windows other than point you to the minimal knowledge of the DBRepair tool for Windows (one is a bat file and the other is a Powershell file)

It might be able to repair the DB

Do you know if I just need to run the bat file? I downloaded the zip folder and it was in there. Seems like the tool wasn’t designed the same for windows as the other OS’s. Do you happen to know if it functions the same or would you be able to point me to anyone who works with windows? Thank you!

Sorry my message didn’t reply to you, this one’s just to make you aware of my other comment. Thank you!

@Warr1895

There is a Windows subfolder.

What you want is there.

@Warr1895

Run the bat file from a c:\ prompt so you can see the output (instead of double clicking it).

DBRepair-Windows.bat Example
c:\Temp>DBRepair-Windows.bat

NOTE: This script is being replaced with the PowerShell script DBRepair-Windows.ps1,
      which aims to better emulate DBRepair.sh (more options, interative mode, etc).
      Consider moving over to the new script.

c:\Temp>

Thank you, is that something I have to download? Or is that in command prompt? I’m not sure where a C:\ prompt is located.

It is the command prompt.

Thank you I’ll try that! Is having the bat file in downloads the correct place? Just want to make sure it can find the command. Thank you so much!

Downloads is OK. It does not matter where the file is located (I ran it from c:\Temp in my example above).

To open a command prompt:

Navigate to the same location as the bat file in Windows File Explorer. Hold down the shift key and right click on an empty space in the folder. A menu will appear. One of the choices should be “open command prompt here.” It might say “Open Powershell window here.” Either is OK.

If that doesn’t work:

Enter cmd or command prompt in the search box on the taskbar. That should open a command prompt in your home directory, c:\users\your_username.

To change to the Downloads directory, enter cd Downloads.

Once you’re in the same folder as the file, enter the file name, press enter, and it should run.

You should see output similar to the example in my earlier post.

Thank you so much! I’m backing up all my movies and stuff tonight should be done tomorrow and then I’ll run it! I’ll keep you posted! Have a good night

Having a backup is always a good thing.

That written, you do not need to perform a backup to run DBRepair. It touches only the Plex database files and makes a backup of them as well. It does not touch any media files, other files in the Plex Data Folder, Windows OS files, etc.

Thank you! More knowledge is always appreciated, I hope it works! If it doesn’t I think I’ll just have to make a new server, Or are there other next steps you suggest?

I ran it and it worked for about an hour and now went back offline.. any other suggestions?

What was the output?

There should be PlexDBRepair.log in the same directory as the Plex database files. Please attach it to the thread.

The database files are in the Plex Data Folder, in the /Plug-in Support/Databases sub-directory.

Also attach a set of Plex server log files. Download them from Settings → Troubleshooting. Attach the entire ZIP file.

Plex Media Server Logs_2025-03-17_19-06-24.zip (1.5 MB)

PlexDBRepair.log (1.0 KB)
all the other files are too large to send here. also if you’d like you can feel free to DM me and i can try and run your ideas quicker. thanks again

Thanks for the files.

The database files are OK. You do not have the same problem as in the original QNAP thread.

What is not working?

Plex Media Server is not crashing. All the shutdowns in the log are manual shutdowns, not a crash.

It looks like you tried to stream Batman & Robin to an iPad. However, the logs show it was the iPad that terminated the stream, not Plex Media Server.

Question re: your network:

Your server and devices have public IP addresses. This is unusual. Most have private IP addresses (ex: 192.168.x.y).

Are your server and devices really on the public Internet?

It says that the iPad stopped it? My iPad said it had lost connection with the server and the server had said 503 unavailable.

My internet should be set to private? It’s my home internet and it has a passcode. Do you know how I can make it private? Also all other internet traffic (on this pc) is going through a vpn Except for Plex and PMS, if that helps.

And I agree all the server shut offs were manual because I could no longer access it and restarting the server makes it work for like an hour at a time. So far I’ve not been able to find an issue online that matches it.
