I have searched and followed the support articles on Media Preparation and Using Subtitles, but I cannot get Plex server to recognize the srt files that I have added. I have updated the Agents to have Local Media Assets checked and at the top of the list. I have renamed the srt files based on the support article. I have re-scanned library files.
Any ideas?
tell us how you named one of them and the corresponding video file.
local media assets does not need to be on top, just enabled
So For example movie named “Black Panther (2018).mkv” and subtitle “Black Panther (2018).en.forced.srt”
Yeah that naming is correct. which agent are you using for your movie library? Plex Movie? LMA is checked under that?
In Agents under Movies->Plex Movie there is LMA is checked along with Plex Movie also checked. Not sure if relevant but I use Media Center Master for metadata and there is another section there under agents for it.
your agent is Plex Movie here? I just tried it and it is working for me so just trying to think of what it might be.
The agent there was Media Center Master. I changed it to Plex Movie like you have and refreshed the library (scanned). I also restarted the plex server. I refreshed metadata on the Black Panther folder, but I still dont see the subtitle.
If Media Center Master is there does it have the LMA has an option in server settings?
Changing that now in library settings will only change the agent for new things added. Existing things already scanned in will still use same agent as before. For Black Panther go to it’s preplay screen with summary and such. on top right hit ellepsis menu and choose Fix Match. On fix match screen hit search options. and change agent there and search.and select it from the results. this will force it to use Plex Movie agent rather than MediaCenterMaster for that movie.
