Plex not seeing Synology NAS as a server

I have a DS216+II Synology Nas. I downloaded the latest version of Plex Media Server for the synology nas. My Nas is on DSM Version 6.1.7-15284. After installing plex onto the Synology nas, I opened ports 32400 for my nas ip address. I am able to select the plex icon on my synology nas and it redirects me to my nas’s local ip addres followed by port 32400. After signing in plex says “looking for server” at the top left corner. So how can I get plex to see my synology nas as a server?

Additional information: I went to the users tab on the synology nas, selected plex, and made sure it had read/write access.
Also I went to the shared folder tab, and made sure the plex folder had read/write access for my user and plex user.

I have used Plex on Synology on several boxes and over several years and setting up has always been pretty simple.

From your description I don’t understand why you “opened ports 32400”.

I have never done that ! and those changes might be relevant when setting up remote access (which u have not got to yet)

I install Plex on the NAS - hit the icon and it will goto myip:32400
I can’t remember if I was asked to login to my plex account but that is likely.

I suggest delete Plex - reboot NAS - reinstall plex .
It really is that simple

Before you do that might be worth typing in yourNASip:32400 in your browser!!!

I did type in my local nasip:32400, it takes me to the plex page, which i can sign in, yet it still says now server is found. Also I have uninstalled plex from the nas, rebooted, reinstalled and gotten the same result about 3 times

What is your LAN network addressing? Is it RFC1918 compliant? (10/8, 172.16/12, or 192.168/16)

If not, your computer will be seen as remote and Plex default security will not allow a remote and anonymous machine have access.
