My library is set to german language and “Prefer artwork based on library language” is checked. When files are added and matched, Plex correctly uses a german poster and other localized metadata.
But when Plex refreshes the metadata either by Scheduled Tasks “Refresh library metadata periodically” (which is disabled for now because of this bug) or when I open the items page, Plex incorrectly loads any US language poster and often also changes the background image.
Plex only does this when I haven’t already manually selected a poster / background image.
Maybe you could share the server logs from a timeframe when you experience this.
I’ve just tried to reproduce the described behavior on my server but manually triggering a metadata refresh on items that (a) don’t have local posters and (b) not manually selected/set any posters doesn’t produce the same result for me (posters mostly just stay the same and using the correct non-English language).
Hi tom80H. Thanks for the reply. I took these server logs shortly after a manually triggered metadata refresh changed the poster art of “Die Hart” ID 35264
I clicked through my recently added movies to get Plex to refresh metadata and change the poster by itself but I assume I added the movies too recently. I’ll post another set of logs once it happened again.
EDIT: When I open a media detail page I can see the “refresh metadata icon” and the loading circle for a split second in the middle of the poster (where the play icon is when you hover the mouse over the poster) and when that’s gone (aka. metadata is refreshed) the poster (and sometimes the background) changes … or nothing happens at all.
