Long story short I have a netgear x10 router. It has plex built in. There newest update is only Vers 1.19.5.3112-b23ab3896. Now my problem
Is with with my fire stick. I can’t get it to play any files from server on plex. Plex does play on my phone and computer no problem. My only guess is the updated software for the fire stick won’t work with the old server ver. Anyone else have this problem or have any suggestions?
You are correct.
The workaround is to disable secure communications on the Plex server and the client.
Note: If you do so, you will have to access your Plex server via http://pms_ip_address:32400/web when using the web interface.
Plex Media Server: Settings → Network → Secure Connections = Disabled.
Plex Android app: Settings → Advanced → Allow Insecure Connections = Always
Now it went from the error playing screen. To just the spinning circle screen. Any other suggestions?
Try restarting the FireStick.
FireStick Settings → My FireTV on a FireStick 4K.
I have tryed everything I have think of. Even unplugged the fire stick and router for 30 mins. Still getting the spinning circle. Only new update is does that also on my phone. But after about 15 or 20 sec it does play the video. But still the fire stick isn’t working.
Let’s see what the log files say.
-
Make sure your server is configured for debug, not verbose, logging.
Settings → Server_Name → General.
Check the box for debug logs.
Do not check the box for verbose logs. -
Enable logging in the Plex Android TV app on the FireStick.
Settings → Advanced. -
With no other activity on the server (streaming, adding new media, etc), play a file on the FireStick. Let it go for 20 - 30 seconds, even if all you get is the spinning circle.
-
Pull the server logs. Settings → Troubleshooting → Download Logs. Attach the full ZIP file to the thread (just drag it into the message window, it will attach at the cursor location).
-
Pull the Plex app log from the FireStick and attach to the thread.
-
Pull the XML information for the file you played and attach to the thread. Save it as a .txt file or ZIP it. The forum does permit .xml attachments.

After do a lot of research I’m blaming the broken updated app for the firestick. I just went to an older ver and it works just fine. No setting or anything had to change
