urgently need help and advice. I have the Plex APP on my Fire TV 4K which played everything up to version 8.19. But now the message “An error occurred while trying to play the video” always appears. I never had that before. Everything works fine on my LG Oled TV and the IOS app. I only have the problem with Fire TV 4K. This has not changed with the current version 8.20. I also tried it in the settings, without success. And the point that you deselect the new player no longer exists in this version. The old version 8.17 can be installed on the Fire TV, but the app will no longer start. I have a WD My Cloud Home NAS. As I said, everything went great beforehand. Do not understand it and get no further. Thank you in advance.
The current Android apps have a problem communicating with older versions of Plex Media Server such as 1.18.x and 1.19.x.
Updating to the current version of Plex Media Server, 1.23.6, resolves the problem.
If you cannot update to the current version, then disable secure communications on the server and FireTV app.
Server: Settings → Network → Secure Communication = Disabled
App: Setting → Advanced → Allow Insecure Connections = Never
Note:
You will not be able to access your server via app.plex.tv, as it requires secure communications. You can connect directly to your Plex server via http://server_ip_address:32400/web.
Plex Relay will be unavailable, as it requires secure communications.
Thanks for the answer. I have a Western Digital NAS via My Home Cloud, so I can’t adjust anything. The Plex app on the Amazon Fire TV 4K has the current version 8.20, there is no higher version yet. Up until version 8.19 everything worked fine. It works fine on all other apps like IOS or LG Oled TV, but there are other versions too. Any other tip or solution? Thank you in advance.
