Plex not working on my older lg TVs

Plex works on my newest lg and Samsung TVs but not my lg oled which is generation 8 (3 year old). Works on my mobile phone also. The software version on my lg TV is July 22 so on the newest. Thanks

It is quite often a bad idea to directly depend on the software of so called “smart” TVs. You would be better off using one of the many set top boxes, Roku, Apple TV, Shield TV or many others. There are also the “stick” type devices like the Fire stick.

In my setup I use several Rokus and a Fire stick and a Shield TV and they all work with only minimal problems.
I just recently had to replace a TV and the new one, of a completely different brand, just slipped right in and I was watching my Plex and Emby on it in less than 5 minutes. One of my TVs is an LG but I use none of its “smart” features at all.

It is just better, I believe, to limit TVs to their primary function, displaying content, and use other devices for everything else, even audio.

My belief is that it is nearly impossible to keep a TV’s software up to date because of poor manufacture support for TVs as they age.

Sometimes a “smart” TV is cheaper that an equivalent “dumb” model but just because a TV has some “smarts” does not mean you have to use its “smartness.”

I would be looking at your LG plex app connection settings. There is no urgent need to purchase a third party piece of hardware whilst there a way to circumvent

What settings do you suggest I should change? I have a problem with sound stutter, and nobody bothers to fix this, see link. I wonder what kind of weird company Plex exactly is. :-1:
